FIELD TRIP/OUTING PROGRAMS

Evergreen Acres is proud to have been an integral part of hands-on learning for students in Central Texas for many years. We have recently expanded our programs significantly to include field trips for every season, including Fall Harvest/Pumpkin Patch, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Spring Planting. We offer several field trip programs.

EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM

The Educational program has been the mainstay of our field trip offerings for a number of years. The Educational program includes:

∙ Tractor-pulled hayride with instructional narration

∙ Walk through the fields with instructional narration

∙ Interactive activity for each group

∙ Snack

∙ Activity Page for each person

This tour lasts 45 minutes to one hour. The cost for this package is $3 per person. Large groups will be given exclusive bookings. Groups of less than twenty paid participants may be paired with another comparable group.

The Educational program is a great opportunity for your students to learn about the practical aspects of how a farm works. Content and activities will complement the season. The instructional narration and activities page are targeted to the specific age of the group. We can accommodate grade levels from Kindergarten to high school.

RECREATIONAL PROGRAM

The Recreational program is designed for classes or groups who would like to visit the farm for outing or recreational purposes. The Recreational program includes:

∙ Tractor-pulled hayride with guide

∙ Snack

∙ Activity Page for each person

This tour lasts 30 to 45 minutes. The cost for this package is $2 per person.

The Recreational program is well-suited for younger visitors to the farm (such as pre-schoolers) and groups such as school clubs, church groups, etc. The Recreational program can be scheduled for after-dark, with a bonfire provided for roasting hot dogs and marshmallows, for a small additional charge.

SCOUTING PROGRAMS

Evergreen Acres is proud to offer a variety of programs for Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Royal Rangers, Royal Ambassadors, and other outdoors/scouting programs for boys and girls. We have certified merit instructors available for many of the programs, and can arrange merit days that teach program curriculum such as environmental, conservation, wildlife, and forestry (to name a few).

OUTING SEASONS

FALL HARVEST/PUMPKIN PATCH

(Tuesdays through Thursdays in October)

Come choose a pumpkin and enjoy the changing of the seasons at Evergreen Acres. Instructional topics include agriculture/harvest, plant life cycles, and lots of fun with pumpkins.

THANKSGIVING

(Tuesdays through Thursdays in November)

Just as the Pilgrims and Indians joined together almost four centuries ago to celebrate a bountiful harvest after a year of toil and labor, we invite you to bring your “Pilgrims and Indians” and your “harvest meal” to share in the beautiful pastoral setting at Evergreen Acres. We have a vast picnic area that can accommodate large groups, and can host you in a sheltered area in case of inclement weather.

CHRISTMAS

(Mondays through Fridays in December)

Christmas season is the highlight of the year at Evergreen Acres. The trees are all beautifully prepared for the sales season, and the coolness in the breeze signals that Christmas Day is almost here. The Christmas program emphasizes the life of a yule tree from seedling to sale, with lots of holiday fun included.

SPRING PLANTING

(Tuesdays through Thursdays in March & April)

When Spring comes to Evergreen Acres, the entire farm bursts with new life. Spring topics include soil preparation/management, planting, watering, and other gardening facts. Groups can even “get their hands dirty” and plant their own seed to take home and watch grow.
